Tinkergarten provides high-quality early childhood learning in the healthiest classroom of all—the outdoors. Families connect with trained leaders for play-based kids classes that help develop core life skills, all while having fun! TNAC's student leadership group will be hosting this uninstructed, open-air painting program for participants of all ages. Paper and paint supplies will be provided, just bring your creativity and a love of nature.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark: Night Sensory Walk
Friday, October 5, 6:30pm – 7:45pm
Discover how your senses work differently at night, during this nighttime exploration. We’ll start at dusk, and as night falls, we’ll play games to learn how we see, feel, smell, hear, and even taste things differently in the dark.

Native American Storytelling Family Event
Saturday, October 20, 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket as we gather around the fire, to listen to generations-old Native American folklore stories. We'll roast marshmallows as we hear fascinating tales such as "How the butterflies came to be” and “The woman who married a frog".

Make a Splash! With Pond Exploration
Sunday, October 7, 10:00am – 11:30am
Using crayfish traps and pond nets, explore TNAC’s freshwater pond to find water dwelling creatures. We’ll learn about macroinvertebrates, and why the pond is their perfect habitat.

All about Bulb Planting: For novices - experts
Saturday, October 13, 10:30am – 12:00pm
Fall is the time for bulb planting! If you've never planted a bulb before, or even if you're an experienced gardener, you'll learn something new during this program. We will explore different types of bulbs, and how to plant and maintain them. Our instructor will demonstrate best practices in bulb planting, and every registrant will receive several Allium bulbs (those amazing purple spheres!) and Daffodil bulbs (Trumbull's official town flower - as pictured on our street signs!) to plant in their own gardens. Our instructor will be Renée Marsh, an advanced master gardener, garden designer, flower farmer and self-avowed plant nut.

Birding Workshop and Owl Pellet Dissection

Spooktacular Trail Walk — Benefits TNAC Student Group
Sunday, October 28, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Join the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center, Denali, and the Trumbull Health Department for a Halloween-themed Trail Walk. Walk the trail, follow the mystery clues and identify the “gory” contents in the mystery boxes. Earn a chance to win a prize.Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. The walk is approximately 1/2 mile and the terrain is easy. A nature scavenger hunt will also take place for those interested. Educational information on hiking and hiking safety will be available from Denali.

Make a Blue Spruce Holiday Wreath
Saturday, December 1, 10:30am – 12:00pm
Create your own outdoor wreath to celebrate the season. Using natural materials, we’ll make beautiful wreaths to hang and display. Light refreshments will be served.

Hike Through the Valley
Saturday, October 20, 10:00am – 12:30pm Rain date: October 21
Take a guided hike through the valley with the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center and the Trumbull Historical Society.
Starting Location: Daniels Farm Road Commuter Lot at Park Street. Hike ends at Indian Ledge Park. There may be buses available to return to starting point; more details to be posted on our Facebook page.
What to bring: Water; wear proper footwear
