Maple Sugaring Demonstration
Saturday, March 9, 11:00am – 12:30pm
Gather around our 150 year-old Sugar Maple tree to learn what it takes to turn sap into sweet maple syrup. Then take a short walk to the firepit to watch the evaporation process. Next, take a syrup taste test. Can you identify the real maple syrup? A fun, educational program for families.

CT Trails Day hike

- Join hundreds of hikers across Connecticut on this annual hike
- Trumbull Nature & Arts Center and the Trumbull Historical Society will be leading the hike
- Denali, the outdoor store, will be on-hand with a hiking bingo game and giveaways

Summer 2019 Programs for Nature-loving Kids Ages 11 - 13!
Session 1: Animal Tracks and Signs; Pond Ecology
Day 1: Tuesday, August 6th, 9am – 12pm
Animal tracks and signs. Learn the clues that animals leave behindto help us learn about their secret lives.
Day 2: Thursday, August 8th, 9am – 12pm
Pond ecology. Discover the characteristics of plants andanimals that make this aquatic environment teem with life.

Session 2: Birds, Insects, and Spiders
Day 1: Tuesday, August 13th, 9am – 12pm
Learn about the common birds of CT, their habitats, nests andcharacteristics. We’ll be using binoculars to search for local birds.
Day 2: Thursday, August 15th, 9am – 12pm
Insects and spiders. We’ll go on an insect safari and collect and identify common species.

Session 3: Alien Invaders; Trees and Plants
Day 1: Tuesday, August 20th, 9am – 12pm
Alien invaders! Learn all about the invasive animal and plant species that have made CT their permanent home.
Day 2: Thursday, August 22nd, 9am – 12pm
Trees and plants. Take an in-depth look at our local plant life. Learn how to identify common species and their role in our environment.

Cost: $90 for each 2-day Session (Includes Day 1 & Day 2 of each Session)
Ages: 11 - 13

* May enroll in multiple Sessions. May not enroll for individual dates.
* Minimum participants to run a session: 6 registrants.
* Program is subject to cancellation if minimum is not met.
