Take a hike inside your house!

by Trumbull Nature and Arts Center on 03/20/20

What are the natural resources in your home? Choose an object, and think about which natural resources were used to make them. Then keep going! How many natural resources were used to make things in your home?

For example:

-       Kitchen cabinet: Wood for the doors and frame, metal for the knobs

-       Kitchen counter: Rocks or minerals: quartz, granite, Formica (man-made plastic)

-       Spoon: Metal

-       Eyeglasses: Glass (comes from sand), metal, man-made plastic

-       Pants: Cotton, metal (buttons or snaps)

For teachers: NGSS correlation: ESS3.A: Natural Resources

-       Living things need water, air, and resources from the land, and they live in places that have the things they need. Humans use natural resources for everything they do. (K-ESS3-1)
